Skilled Welder/Fabricator Workshop Engineer
We’re looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator Workshop Engineer to join our busy workshop team, working on heavy plant machinery, industrial shredders, and large fabricated components.
This is a hands-on workshop role working on large, heavy-duty components, including shredders, plant machinery and metal recycling equipment. The work is varied, practical, and technically challenging.
What you’ll be doing
- Welding and fabricating shredder shafts, metal recycling equipment, excavator buckets, and heavy plant components
- Repairing and refurbishing worn and damaged equipment
- Carrying out hard-facing and rebuilds on high-wear parts
- Working with specialist materials, including wear-resistant steels and high-strength alloys
- Reading and working from technical drawings and job specifications
- Supporting mechanical repairs and overhauls where required
- Maintaining high standards of health & safety and workshop housekeeping
What We Are Looking For
- Strong MIG and stick welding skills, particularly on heavy-gauge steel
- Proven experience in a fabrication, plant, recycling, or construction machinery environment
- Experience with shaft repairs and hard-facing is highly desirable
- Crane or forklift licence (advantageous, but not essential)
- A practical, reliable team player with a proactive approach
