Repairs to ECS Rotor for a Recycling Centre in London
Our first task was to visually inspect the ECS rotor.
We soon realised that the drive pulley was damaged and there was evidence of the drum catching on the rotor.
We fabricated a puller to remove the end collar. Next we removed and inspected the rotor bearings and cleaned out all the excessive grease. The drum was removed from the rotor, which we inspected and steam cleaned to remove all contamination.
Lastly, we reassembled the drum rotor, ensuring it was sealed to prevent small ferrous contaminates from entering the drum (which was the original problem). We refitted the existing serviceable bearings and checked that the drum rotated freely.
A steel cradle was fabricated to correctly support the ECS rotor under the bearings and not the drum.
