In its earliest incarnation, Blaker was based in London and specialised in ‘Motor Aero and General Engineers’, developing the Hallé Spring Wheel and building an enviable reputation for axle and chassis repairs.
Axle straightening and repair methods
Bring your damaged axle to us and we’ll fix it using our in-house facilities. Most repairs can be made within a week; you’ll be back on the road in next to no time.
Vintage vehicle axle repairs
Your pride and joy needs special care. After setting the bent axle on a heavyweight, flat engineering bench, we clamp and measure it before carefully applying heat to straighten it. A certified non-destructive crack test tells you the axle is safe to use.
Truck or trailer drive axle repairs
After setting your axle up in a large lathe to pinpoint the bend, strategic heat placement is often all that’s needed. If the damage is more substantial we cut off the broken end and replace with a new piece that’s been machined to specification.
Broken axle repairs
As well as bent axles, you can bring your broken ½ shaft, damaged bearing seats and wheel bearing threads to us for repair. With experience in DAF, Volvo, Scania and SAF trailer axles, your fleet will be back to strength for less money and in less time than it would take you to order and fit a new axle.
