Magnetic Head Drum Repair and Refurbishment
Magnetic head drums play a vital role in extracting ferrous metals from waste streams and often operate continuously in demanding recycling environments.
A damaged magnetic head drum recently arrived at our workshop following an internal failure which caused the unit to jam during operation.
Inspection and strip-down
Our engineering team carried out a full strip-down of the assembly, identifying approximately 70 dislodged rare earth magnets along with signs of internal damage requiring further assessment.
Repair and refurbishment
The refurbishment process involved replacing the damaged and dislodged magnets before applying resin infill between the magnet rows to secure and protect the assembly.
The drum was then carefully reassembled and prepared for return to service.
Extending equipment life
Repairing and refurbishing magnetic separation equipment can often provide a cost-effective alternative to full replacement, helping operators reduce downtime, extend equipment life and avoid unnecessary disruption to processing operations.
