Getting straight to the problem
Repairs to Volvo tractor unit axle
Our client was tasked with urgent repairs to the drive axle of an eight year old twin drive Volvo which had been badly damaged. The bearing broke up and destroyed the carrier surface.
Our client explored the option of a new axle. The price was extortionate with a lead time of five to seven weeks. Axles are now made to order due to a myriad of ever changing specifications (manufacturers don’t stock them). The associated price and downtime of a new axle was prohibitive to our client.
The repair only took one week to complete and the price to our client was a fraction of a new axle (saving between 33-55%). What’s more, a significant reduction in downtime was hugely appreciated by the operating company.
