Ian Roberts Retires

On Friday, December 22nd, 2023, we bid farewell to a true legend at Blaker. Ian Roberts, a dedicated member of our team, embarked on a well-deserved retirement journey after an incredible 56 years of loyal service.

Ian was more than just an employee; he was an integral part of our Blaker family. His exceptional problem-solving skills and love for challenges made him stand out. Welding and fabrication were his specialties and he had a unique talent and passion for repairing classic and vintage vehicle chassis as well as plant and machinery. His methodical approach, attention to detail and dedication to studying drawings and preparations were unmatched.

As we say goodbye to Ian, we can’t help but feel a mix of emotions. He leaves a void that will be hard to fill, but we’re immensely grateful for his countless contributions throughout his tenure. Ian, you’ll be greatly missed in our daily operations, and we’ll have to turn up the radio to make up for the absence of your cheerful whistling that sometimes drove us all nuts, but we all secretly enjoyed. Remember, you’re always welcome back anytime if retirement ever gets too boring!

Lastly, we’re glad your new all-weather jacket fitted perfectly and hope you get a lot of use out of it – especially in the cold/wet/windy weather we’re currently experiencing!
